The chief executive officer of Flik Hospitality Group asked his team to change up the awards it presents every year to top-tier associates, with an eye toward having an Olympics-style bronze medal created for the 2022 event. 

Tonya Powell, senior director strategic operations & design, set about researching potential producers of such a medal and ran into a brick wall. The combination of lengthy time lags and raw materials shortages she was hearing from potential suppliers was beginning to make the project seem impossible. 

“Then I happened upon Medalcraft Mint in doing an internet search,” Tonya explains. “I filled out the online quote request, and soon I was able to speak with a very helpful customer service representative about our project. She overnighted samples to me, and within three days we had completed artwork.” 

The resulting 3-inch brass medal with an antique finish and neck ribbon delivered the bronze appearance envisioned by the Flik CEO. Engraved on the front were the words “President’s Circle – Exemplary Performance,” while each recipient’s name was engraved on the back. 

Our team was able to produce the more than 180 medals within about seven weeks, or less than half the time other suppliers had quoted. Additional recipient names and corrected spellings kept the final order fluid, with the final units shipped overnight to make it in time for the event.

“We were up against a tight timeline, but we made it because our Medalcraft Mint rep led the customer service process,” Tonya says. “She kept me abreast of production and shipping timelines every step of the way. She was on it in a way that I’ve never experienced before. Every interaction from a customer service perspective was stellar. We’re in the hospitality business, so satisfying customers is what we do, and this was just a really good experience.”
