Type of Event: Donor recognition and teaching staff recognition
Recipient: University donors and university staff members
Items Presented: 3-1/2" fine silver medallions and 3-1/2" brass medallions
Objective: Recognize donors with a unique and distinctive gift item that they cannot get anywhere else. An award to recognize teaching staff for outstanding achievements.
Description of Program: Penn State College of Earth and Mineral Science was looking for an exclusive item that could be utilized to meet the needs of two separate recognition programs. First, a gift to recognize and thank major university donors for their contributions. Secondly, an award to recognize the outstanding achievements of university staff members.
The medallions for the donor recognition program were struck in fine silver. Each medallion was personalized by engraving the recipient's name on the reverse side. Contributors are presented with a fine silver medallion upon receipt of their generous gift to the university.
The medallions for the staff member recognition program were die-struck in brass. Staff members are recognized and presented with the brass medallion at the spring commencement celebration.
Results: Penn State was extremely pleased with the high quality and beautifully detailed medallions. Since the donor medallions were die-struck in precious metal, it is a highly valued gift that will appreciate in value. Donors are delighted to receive the gift and will cherish it for years to come.
The staff members were also proud to receive the brass medallion as an award of excellence.
